I got a voice mail that the IRS has filed a lawsuit against me and to call back.
I called back a Indian man answered and was in a call center.
He told me I owed $2762 from taxes from 2008-2013 and I needed to pay it today or I would go to jail for 3 years. He told he check my account and knows I have that kind of money which I don't so I knew he was lying. He proceeded to tell me to not get a third party involved because it was a federal matter and t figure out how I was going to get the money today. I looked it up online and hung up.
I think its a SCAM I am pretty sure the IRS would need to give you more than 5 hours to pay anything or your in jail with no prior notice or anything.
They called and said I had a lawsuit with the IRS. The thing that bothers me is that they knew my address! When I asked for paperwork, they said I needed to settle the debt first! I hung up! Scam!!
They called and left a message about filing a lawsuit against me. I called the number and scary, they knew my name and address. They very heavily accented man said "do not interrupt me, this is a recorded line and I am with the IRS. We audited you for tax years 2008-2013 and you owe 1563.00"
I hung up.
I called, prepared for a potential scam, and a "David Dawson" with the "Internal Revenue Service" answered. Now note, "David" had a very heavy Indian (Pakistan) accent.
When I challenged him on finding my exact case file and to confirm my personal information, he hung up.
out of nowhere I started getting calls from 360-499-2921. They say they are from the IRS and threatened a law suit.
there are other calls from the same company using these numbers# 253-336-5361 and 360-347-1794. I am disregarding these calls, they are a scam.
