I pressed #1 and a man answered, he said he was with "Credit Card Services" and could lower the interest rate on my card. I asked what card and he said all of them. He asked what was my amount of debit and what I asked what company he was with, he hung up.

This is a dangerous scam!

Does anyone ever fall for this scam? How can it be worth it. And i can't imagine who would want the job of trying to get someone to bite.

They have been calling and harrassing my 81 yr. old mother. She is on the "donotcall list" and has no credit cards.

I work with cardholder services doing customer support for credit and debit cards, for a company that services over 500 credit unions from across the country.  I have been receiving calls from a company listed as "CNAM" on my caller ID and are from the number, 1-360-529-6169.  These are advertisements posing as your current service, which are not legitimate.  When I press "1" to speak to a representative and inform the person on the line that I work for cardholder services and I would like to know the name of their financial institution, they immediately hang up on me (which is quite rude).  My phone number is listed in the national do not call registry, and this sort of deceptive advertisement is certainly unwanted, so I have filed a complaint against the company.

If you are listed in the national do not call registry and you are receiving phone calls from this company, I recommend that do the same.  This company is misrepresenting itself and quite possibly could be fraudulent.  I would not recommend providing this company with any personal information about yourself, and if you do, call the number on the back of your card right away to have the card shut down as lost because you may have compromised your account.  Normally you will receive a new card after having it shut down as lost (except in rare circumstances where perhaps you have had a very bad payment history or if you've changed your address recently, in which case you'll need to contact your financial institution directly to determine if you will receive a new card or not).  Here's the URL for the do not call registry, where you can either enroll or file a complaint against this company:  https://www.donotcall.gov/

If you would like to shut down your card but do not know what number to call, you can call Visa 911 or MasterCard Global services who will complete a loss report to limit your liability and then they will contact your financial institution on your behalf to have the card shut down.  For Discover or American Express cards, you can just call directly.  Here are the numbers.

Visa: 1-800-VISA-911 (1-800-841-2911)
Mastercard: 1-800-MasterCard (1-800-627-8372)
Discover: 1-800-DISCOVER (1-800-347-2683)
American Express: 1-800-528-4800

I am on a "do not call" list, yet I keep getting marketing calls from unlisted numbers as well as this number, 3605296169.  they leave no name, no company identifier, only saying that they want to lower my interest rate!  Who are these idiots and how can they be stopped.????
