I got a call from this number this afternoon (May 21st, 2012) and it was disguised as a political survey, but I was promised a free cruise upon completion of the survey.  I knew it was a bunch of baloney, but I took the survey anyway, just so I could get a live person, and let them know they're scam artists, as well as cussing them out.

The guy introduced himself, saying he was from "Caribbean Cruise Lines", and after he said his name & the usual blah blah blah, I immediately started cussing him out, calling him a liar, among other things.  Even after all this,  he still wanted to give me the sales pitch on said cruise, so I let him. He proceeded to tell me that everything was free, except for a $59 port tax, plus gratuities, drinks, and gambling.

I then handed the phone over to my mom, who actually won a cruise on the radio many years back, and even after her talking to the guy, HE STILL WANTED TO MAKE US BELIEVE IT WAS REAL.  I eventually just hung up on the crooks.

I think they're getting the people hook, line, and sinker (no pun intended), by using the name "Caribbean Cruise Lines", seeing as there's a VERY similarly named cruise line called Royal Caribbean Cruises.

To Lady T...I get the same thing, but read this posting I got from the National Do Not Call Registry. Accordingly, the Telemarketers can access this DNCR for an annual fee!!! So why do we even bother cause the scum of the earth are still able to call us!!!

Do Not Call Registrations Permanent and Fees Telemarketers Pay to Access Registry Set

Telephone numbers placed on the National Do Not Call Registry will remain on it permanently due to the Do-Not-Call Improvement Act of 2007, which became law in February 2008. More than 157 million phone numbers are on the National Do Not Call Registry.

Under the Act, the Federal Trade Commission will continue to remove telephone numbers that have been disconnected and reassigned to other customers. Consumers can delete their telephone numbers from the registry at any time by calling 1-888-382-1222 (TTY 1-866-290-4236) – the call must be made from the telephone number they wish to delete.

The Do-Not-Call Fee Extension Act of 2007 also was enacted, setting the annual fees telemarketers will pay to access the registry in fiscal year 2009 at $54 for each area code of data accessed or $14,850 for access to every area code in the registry, whichever is less. Telemarketers may access the first 5 area codes of data at no charge, and certain exempt organizations will continue to access all data at no charge. For each fiscal year beginning after fiscal year 2009, the fees will be increased at the rate of change of the consumer price index, unless the change is less than 1 percent, in which case the fees will not be adjusted.
