Some guy called. He left a message. The message was all broken up. Said to have my attorney call him right away in a rather demanding voice. First of all if I have some kind of problem with the IRS I am sure I will get some kind of paper in the mail. Don't fall for their crap. They are just trying to get money from you. Waste of time.
Same thing for me. The guy with an Indian accent wanted to offer me money, and when I told him to take me off the list, he said no, I said what? He said no means no. I told him to f off and hung up.
I got this call today too. Caller ID read Ben w. (yes, small w.)
I simply don't answer calls from whom I don't recognize the numbers, nor do I fall for scams. What worries me is the ones who DO fall for them. And now people are claiming to be from the IRS. So sad.
Also, once you answer or call back, your number is tripped into a system and the calls can multiply.
In terms of blocking calls, I spent the best $19.99 ever for an app PrivacyStar. It actually flags known scammers, and you can choose to block scores of other numbers. The fee is for a one year subscription. I do need to add that I do not use a land line, only my cell, so this is a cellphone app.
No, I do not work for them. I am a very satisfied consumer.
I get calls from this number at least three times a day. I have let it ring many times. I have also answered multiple times, but no one is on the line. Makes me wonder why they bother to call. I googled the number and it said it was Qwest out of Washington State.
the company that provides service to these "U.S, Government employees" is in fact an American company called Century Link (formerly Qwest Corporation). their phone number is 1-800-244-1111. I called them and spoke to one of their customer service reps asking if they knew what was going on. they said they were unaware, but when I brought up the fact that an American company allowing middle eastern people to pose as American Government employees and scam American people out of money to fund God-knows-what organizations, possibly even anti-American terrorist groups the guy seemed to freak out a bit. ( I guess using the words "funding terrorist groups" on a recorded line sets off some alarms LOL) and said to call the security department and gave me a number to a satellite phone (yeah, like I wasn't going to check before calling) and when I asked why he was giving me a number to a satellite phone he got all flustered and hung up. Now, knowing that the good people of the American Government *sarcasm* love listening for key words during phone conversations and internet use I hope this may get their attention. after all, middle eastern callers posing as Americans (that work for the government, no less) taking American money to fund *gasp* terrorist groups (yeah, right. but possible lol) might get the attention needed to stop these scammers from harassing American citizens. *fingers crossed*
