I got the same email this morning as you did b.farmer and it stated the exact same thing except of course had my info. Im glad I saw the reports cause I was freaking out at first.
Complete scam. Originates in India. Bad grammar and misspellings should be a dead giveaway. What prosecutor lets you know in advance you are going to be arrested? Stupid emails, but they just keep on coming.
i got 2 emails today 9/16/2014 stating the exact same thing as b farmer except mine was from a steven white. each one its own case number but the "creditor" and the dollar amount of $11958 was the same. they have even called leaving tnreatening messages on my voicemail. I just turned it over to the police and filed a report
I got the same email from a steven white. Because it had all of my personal information I thought it was real. I'm glad I read this first. I called the number and the guy said attorney at law steven white he talks with an ascent.
I got an email of a court summon, it had a lot of personal information. It was a supposed Steven white. When you called the number a man's recording would would answer stating it is Steve Waters and associates. The email had multiple grammatical errors. He threatened me by saying the police would come and take me to prison. The email also stated I owed $11958.
Don't send a dime to these scammers. My question is how are they getting folks personal info -- cell phone numbers, personal emails, and ssn's? I think that information makes them seem legitimate. The person Mr. White or Mr. Waters is not an attorney. i called him and he would not disclose any information about himself. Furthermore, the email is poorly written -- definitely not the work of an attorney -- and if they have filed an action in court then you would have received a copy of the complaint and summons. Furthermore, no police or sheriff will come out to arrest you for owing a debt and you surely would not be alerted beforehand via a phone call or email.
