caller id said it was a call from beeville tx but i answered it anyway claimed to be a credit card company and that this was the last time theyd try to contact me that theyd tried 8 times before i knew this was bull so i pressed 1 to talk to a person soon as their contact answered the phone and said his name was Rick i asked him quickly "Rick whats the name of the company you work for " and he hung up
Someone from this number called just now, but didn't leave a message. I called back and got the recorded message "The Magic Jack customer at 361-597-3016 is not available, please leave a message after the tone." The caller ID also says "Texas" which tells me that it's a cell phone.
Claims I have a collection account for a credit card. They refused to identify what credit card based on keeping their client's confidentiality. Not only is that illegal but it's also impossible since I don't have any outstanding credit card bills. I never have. I had one credit card when I was 23 that I stayed current on until I closed it when I was 28. I've not had another one. So what outstanding card could I possibly have?
"Did someone steal my identity?" I responded, "Please give me more information so I can investigate this and alert my bank." She sounded surprised and then said, "No, ma'am! I cannot give you that information. You must resolve this debt today to prevent further litigation. We can accept payment over the phone. We need $3000 to stop this case from going to court and entering a judgment against you."
"I can't give you money when someone must have stolen my identity. Give me the account information so I can call my bank and my lawyer. That will put a hold on your litigation procedure until we figure out what's going on and why there's a debt I couldn't possibly have."
She hung up. I tried calling the number back but this number does not accept in-coming calls.
