Got a call from these crafty scumbags more then once. Calling me was one thing, but calling my family saying they have "documents" for me and do they know where I am. Scammers..creeps...penny chasing fuckery! Don't be duped...and most of all...don't be grieved.
Received a call from this number. A woman asked for me by name. Instead of answering, I asked, "Who is calling?". She again asked for me by name, and I repeated my question. We went one more round, then she hung up. I called the number back and got the MagicJack message (The MagicJack customer is not available to answer your call). Figured it was a scam or something.
A few minutes later, I got a concerned call from my stepfather. They had called him and said there was a civil lawsuit pending against me! They left a number, (844) 724-2405, and a File #, and said I had to call back right away or I would be served papers at my home & job. My stepfather told me that the caller ID showed the same number that had tried to call me before --> (386) 256-9079. So although I still figured it was a scam, I was concerned because how did they get my stepfather's phone number??
I called (844) 724-2405 and a recording said it was CDK and Associates, then a man answered the phone. I asked what kind of company it was and told him someone had called and said there was a civil suit pending against me. He said they were a Debt Collection Agency and asked for my File #. When I gave it to him, he responded with my name, and said he would release all the information to me, once he verified my identity. He asked for the last 4 digits of my SS#. I figured no harm, it's only a part of my number, not the whole thing (and I was curious). He said OK, the debt was purchased from Verizon. I said that was ridiculous, I haven't used Verizon in about 6 years, and that was 3 addresses ago! Besides, I didn't owe them ANYTHING! I asked how much they said I owed, and he said $400. I told him this was absolute bull$8*t! I didn't owe Verizon anything, and I didn't owe him anything. I said "This sounds like a complete scam!" He started to get loud and threatened a lawsuit. (LOL Right. Like a company is gonna start up a lawsuit for a measly $400! Very laughable.) So I yelled over his voice, "Go ahead! I'll see you in court" Then I hung up on him.
I googled CDK and Associates and got this page. Felt relieved, and called back my parents and told them it was all a scam. Told them if they call back, don't give them ANY information, and just hang up on them.
I sincerely hope no one falls for these lowlife scum-sucking scam artists!
Just got a call from this number...they said I had a civil complaint against me ....scared me at first till I saw this and see others are getting the same call...now I figure it was a scam....
Call came in from a ficticious company looking for me. They called my sister and coworker, but not me directly. Said that someone had filed a civil complaint against me and needed to get me documents. I would personally drive to whoever is behind this and serve them a right hook.
