At 4 pm on Friday 07 October 2011 I received a phone message from a Mr. Johnson who knew my name and identified himself as from the Federal Department of [Law?] Investigation. It was hard to understand through his thick accent which I could not identify. He told me to not disregard the call and to call back 386-308-3640 (which is the number he called from) regarding time-sensitive lawsuits and if I didn't, he couldn't help me and wished me good luck as the situation unfolds on me. Fortunately, I know none of this is true and did not bother returning his call. I do not know what his motive is.
I got the same message this afternoon. I knew from the beginning when I received the call that it was a bogus ploy...this was obviously a scam. I argued with the 'lawyer' and demanded that he send me all the legitimate material/documentations. He refused, of course. Anyway, I told him that I was going to report him, which I did. The police got involved and I hope they nail his [***] in Daytona Beach, FL (my caller ID traced his number to Daytona Beach, FL).
First, the funny thing about this law office is that the lawyer could barely speak English. Seriously? His accent is definitely 'South Asian' or 'Indian.' If you're going to establish a law office in America, don't you think you would want to hire some competent lawyers who are well versed in English and familiar with legal jargon? I threw out some legal jargon at him and he had no clue what I was talking about, LOL. In my opinion, this dude seems like he barely graduated from high school.
Second, these people need a life and make their money a legitimate ways. Scamming people by intimidating them with a lawsuit will not work. This is not India or some third-world country where scamming people through fear is a common practice.
To the folks who are receiving these calls.....stand your ground! The best way to put these lawyers' feet back in their mouths is by criticizing them. For example, "You're a lawyer in America, but you could barely speak English."
With that said, I'm tired of the calls from these self-proclaimed lawyers; however, at the same time, I find them kind of amusing and entertaining. If these 'lawyers' want fire, you give them fire and that will shut them up quickly.

Well said. These scammers are so stupid it boggles the mind. I guess in India or Pakistan or wherever they are actually calling from, the police arrest you if you owe money. Guess these losers don't know the US doesn't have debtors prison. Good for you.
