These dang spammers are calling more and more often. Today I went searching through my settings to see if there was some way to set the iPhone not to ring except from known contacts. Unfortunately there is no option for a silent ring tone in the settings. However a little googling led me to discover the "Do Not Disturb" feature. You can turn that on, and then select which people will still ring (i.e. all contacts, or a specific VIP list that you choose who is in it) and, voila, problem solved. Although until it happens, I don't know if that call-answering screen will pop up and interrupt whatever else I'm doing at the time.....
These goddam things have got to be stopped. Enough is enough. 3,4,5 or more calls a day. And it starts with the FCC. If you look at their website it lists all the things they have done to combat this problem, Except the most obvious and effective thing. Cracking down on the telecommunication companies who provide the numbers to these scammers. 95% of them are in the business of fraud, ID theft, credit card scams, the list goes on. Blocking numbers does no damn good when these folks have hundreds of numbers in their robo call centers. The companies who provide these numbers to them need to be held as an accessory to the crimes that are committed with them.
