i called back this number after they called me. I was asked for a ssn# and refused to give it, i was then asked for m checking account number and last 4 of ssn# to pull up my account. i gave it, and asked what "DDA" stood for? the woman told me it was "demand deposit account" or in lay terms "checking account." turns out my account was actually overdrawn with charter one bank and the lady was able to put me on a payment plan to repay my balance and put a freeze on my account to stop the fees. i am actually really glad i called back. i asked about "citizens bank" and was told that it is also part of "RBS" which is a bigger bank that owns both companies.
Iv'e been getting numerous call from this number I have answered it before and it was Citizens Bank and I told them they have the wrong number since then Im still receiving calls from them except when I answer to advise them that they have the wrong number AGAIN.. it's a recording that says please hold I have a very important message so I hold so I can give them a piece of my mind and STOP CALLING it then loops the message again until it hangs up!!!! so frustrating.
Phishing! They asked for me by my commonly known name not my legal one that a bank would use. Insisted I had an account with Citizen's Bank- never have, never will. Nice try.
Since they are a collection agency, they may be trying to find a family member or a neighbor. I just got a phone call, and they were looking for "Mike." Mike is my brother, but he has never lived with me. My sister also got a phone call from them. They will contact anyone and everyone in order to try to find the person who owes them money. Yes, they can legally do this. But, they can't harass you. In fact, due to privacy laws, they can't even tell you that they are trying to collect a debt.
If you're wondering how they locate other family members...there are tons of websites out there. You can find anyone if you're willing to pay for it. Just google "people search" or similar words (people finder, etc) and see what comes up.
They have called me at 8:21, 8:26, 8:32, 8:38 and 8:43 so far this morning. Now, I don't care if they have a valid reason to call me (which they do) or not...that's just ridiculous. What do they think they're going to gain by calling someone every five minutes?!
