) received a calll at 3:15PM. They said they where asking for donations to help homeless veterans. They started with $55.00. Then went step by step to $20.00. I said I would give them $10.00. Then they said they had to transfer me to another rep. to verify my donation. The next rep. wanted a credit card number. I told him I NEVER donate this way. I told him to send me a donation request to my mail address, which I gave him. Then I told him I would research their origination to verify their legitimacy.
Now how much ya wanna bet I never hear from them. I've used this method many times and i have NEVER received a follow-up request for a donation from any of them.
Call supposedly originated in East Providence, RI.; but telemarketers use spoofing software to fool caller ID. Could be from India for all I know. Recorded message about some prize or reward.
East Providence call, I'm in RI and answered: immediately heard a boiler room environment like when we get the repair technician in India; hung up without hearing any pitch.
