I received a similar call and so did my wife. Two more people reported same kind of calls. We definitey ought to call the police.
I doubt that this is a prank - rather phishers. Question - how did they get the ##? What else did they get about us? With whom do they share the info. Need to call the police
DO NOT BELIEVE THIS SCAMMER! They called me today saying the same story...my brother hit a BMW, they have him hostage, they want $1500 cash to fix the damage, don't want me to see their faces for pick up, or else they'll "put a bullet in his head." I actually drove to the bank while my boyfriend's Dad called the police and followed our car. The dispatcher said it was a scam that's been going around. It sounded so real, but DO NOT BE FOOLED. I hung up immediately, and the scammer had the audacity to call me back. Anyways, my brother texted me during this fiasco that he was actually at drill for the Marines. The Massachusetts police have this number now, so be aware.
My 21 year old sister received a call from this phone# stating I was involved in an accident with "his brothers truck" and if she didn't come up with $2000.00 "he" was holding me hostage and if no money was paid "he" was going to slit my throat! My poor sister was horrified, scared, and crying when she called me to be sure I was safe. I called 911 and was told this is a scam, and not to worry. Call was received in Boston Mass. Horrible!
got the same call, my brother was in an accident and hurt real bad and it broke his little cousins back so I better give him money for his cousins medical bills or they will kill my brother.
This happens to me this morning but was very specific about it being someone in black truck and that he got the number out of the phone. That I need to meet him in fall river with $2000 or he would kill him. That he was tracking my phone since I answered and would be at my children's school. Sick [***] do not answer this number !!!!!!
