yep, got exact same call..I asked the woman 3x for her name and all 3x it was this is the Chamber of Commerce..She wante dme toverify address of business, I told her I had this same conversation with someone else and they should have it on file. (No, I didn't have conversation previously, that was a lie..LOL) She, then said she'd make a note of it and that was it.
Great idea except that some of these calls are out of the country but routed through a USA code and when you answer they can charge you by the minute. It may only be 3 or 4 cents added to your phone bill and you do not even notice it but when they make 500,000 thousand call. ...they are delighted that you answered and left them on hold.
If you do not recognize the number do not answer. It is is important they will leave a message. But, if you do .answer then scream into the phone. ...."oh my god there is blood everywhere....run, run." and then hang up.
We received a call from this number and a woman asked us to verify address and business owner. She was a bit reluctant to tell us who they were but mentioned Chamber of Commerce. Unfortunately, we verified the information. Wish we had seen this site to know that it was a telemarketer.
Called and seemed to be repeating my company name to me incorrectly. So I said, "Excuse me?" And he didn't say anything. Heard the telltale signs of a call center so i hung up.
Called asking to verify business name and owner, asked who it was and they said they were updating our chamber of commerce listing. I'm not a member of the local chamber, and this number was a Nebraska number while my business is located in Missouri.
