Morons don't know that most people Don't answer when they don't know the number.
They don't leave a message oh my God who could it be I should call it back but that doesn't happen
It isn't just from online postings -- I just got called by this number even though I have never posted my cell phone number online.
Did not answer as I didn't recognize the number.
I called back a few times. Someone finally answered and they answered as if THEY called me - saying "Hello I am looking for [my name]" which was probably from caller ID. I nicely told them to stop calling and they immediately hung up. I called back again - talked to a new person, same thing, and told them to nicely take a hike and stop calling. We'll see what happens.
They are from CollegeReferrals.net which is the front for their scam to gather information and sell it for profit. I was able to back trace they call from being on the phone long enough to Nevada, and their server is in CA. They tell you it is a free service - of course it is! After you give them enough information they ship you off to another "education specialist" who asks more information after address, birthday, age, name, area of educational interest. When they asked me what the last 4 of my social were - it was ABUNDANTLY obvious this is a phishing scam. I would love to report them to the police but I have no idea since it is hearsay unless they truly do record each phone call. My advice, just don't answer - they are sneaky and have a very good called ID system - I masked my number and they still were able to answer the phone "Hello, Robert...".
