Since the CLID said "WIRELESS CALLER" and the number is local, I picked up and said "hello". I immediately received a recording that started out by saying "Congratulations, you have just won a free cruise". I immediately hung up the phone. 95% of the time I don't answer or pick up the call and hang up immediately. Since I live in the ATL area, and since it looked like a cell phone - all I can say is they got me on that one!
oh now THIS is interesting. called this number back from my gmail dialer (keeps your phone number called private and they'll never know if number called was valid). but this is the actual voicemail recording played after dialing 404 num:
"the mailbox belonging to spanky spank is full and cannot accept messages at this time. please try again later" then call immediately drops
The DNC does work. For those of us who remember, companies would call at dinner time 7 nights a week. The companies were mostly auto glass, HVAC, roofers, etc. "Do you have a crack or a chip on your automobile's windshield"? They were mostly real companies and very annoying because they would call when they knew you were home. The DNC has made a huge dent in stopping those calls because the companies did not want to break the law and pay the fines. The ones that plague us now are criminals, most call centers are out of our government's reach. The 404 area code is showing up more often but that does not necessarily mean the calls are from Georgia. Spoofing phone numbers and burner phones are easy to obtain. Just don't answer numbers you don't recognize. If they are legit they will leave a message. Check this website and if the number is listed as a scam then block the number if you can. If you answer and speak they know they have a live number that can be sold to other crinimal call centers so that they can harass you. Please don't answer odd looking phone calls unless you absolutely have to. Then be prepared for a deluge of calls trying to separate you from your identity or your Monet.
