This is a charity call, probably one of the "heart string" ones. It is not telemarketing as they are not selling anything, therefore no law was broken.

There is no such thing as a wrong number with these. A random name is thrown up as a guess so they may have something to go along with your number. These calls are best to end if you don't recognize the voice. Anytime you hear the "maybe you can help me" garbage, you can bet it'll be a fundraiser for cancer. Ended it as soon as you know it's a wrong number. The call goes in the direction of the 'maybe you can help" manure, just hang up without saying anything.
Cancer researchers. Gave them my po box address. Sounded legit but you can't really trust people's asking for yes and no answers. I hear they steal your info and splice your answers into another tape. These folk are hopefully a small nuisance for a good cause. Will know when the paperwork comes.
They called me looking for my mother (a breast cancer survivor). When I said I couldn't donate but offered to give them her direct line, I got a snotty remark and the woman hung up on me. Does anyone know how to get in contact with them? I'm livid.
