Basically what everyone else is saying.  They claim I wrote a bad check over 10 years ago, which is convenient because my banks records wont go back that far.  After about 5 minutes of questioning, it became clear that this was some sort of scam-however, the scary thing is how did they get so much information about me...

You should call the bank, they would still have files and show if it was taken care of or not.  It would have been the bank and who you write the check to if they sent it back to the person/store. Both would have called you and/or sent something by mail, not to mention all the fee's for bouncing a check. If you believe you took care of it, most likely you did. Way to suspicious to suddenly turn up this far down the road..  And with all the breach's going on up to and including IRS x 3..  they may have gotten a hold of the stored microfilm stuff for all anyone knows!  Sure its not a copy and forged?  These things happen!  Forgery is a serious offense.  Sending a copy? not at all would I except that. Show me a real picture of it, both sides! No copy's!!  It also seems to me that it would have shown up on your credit also. Have you checked your credit? Your entitled to a free report from all three once a year.

See Big A's post and info above. Send them a C&D, sent certified return receipt, by US mail. As per the FDCPA laws, they are supposed to send a dunning letter within 5 day's of first call. Demand debt validation. Tell them a real picture of it, no copy's. Neither phone, fax, text or email are valid proof of a debt owed. Follow the steps in what you need to know below:

They also call from an Alabama number: 205-327-1150.  Don't give them any information because it is a scam organization. However, feel free to keep them on the line as long as you want talking about anything, just never give them any personal or financial information. I talked about various things for about 10 minutes before I told them where I hoped they spent the afterlife.

Mrs. CA
I have had at least two calls per day from these idiots. It says I have 24 hours to get back or I will have a wage execution from my bank. The lady sounds really stupid. This had been going on for two weeks. Never give out personal info!
