A robocall with a message that my credit cards were ok, but they would be able to reduce my interest rate to 6% or less. I pushed 1 for a live person, who mumbled some ID I think. When I said I was on the "do not call" list and wanted my number removed from his calling list, I got silence and no reply. After 3 or 4 seconds, the line was disconnected.
Sounds like a scam and a scam that violates the "do not call" list rules.
I too just got a call... caller ID simply said "Montana" and the phone number. I'm in Virginia. I did not answer and they did not leave a message. Like many others, I'm on the Do Not Call registry.
I was getting calls from 406 478 2002 repeatedly. A real nusinance. Unfortunately, Verizon has discontinued their 'Call Blockinhg' service in our area.
But if you can use a new wireless digital phone - look at the PanasonicKX-TG1061 (single handset) or -1062 (2 handsets) or -1063 (3 handsets).
This phone has its own built-in call blocking facility - for up to 30 numbers.
When a blocked number calls - you won't hear it. But the phone will send a fake 'busy signal' to the scumbags - then the phone disconnects.
Its great knowing the scumbags will continue to waste their time trying to re-call - but never get through - ever.
As I remember, the single-handset phone was about $70 on Amazon.
