407-000-4712  They called here as well. SHowed up on my caller ID several times over a 2 week period.

Finally, I answered to see who it was. Same as the other information give on here - to lower your interest rate. I went through the call and the information the try to "phish" out of you is:

Your Name and Address (gave a a fake both)

The type of card, Visa or Master Card, that you want lower interest on

They will tell you that they need to call your cc company and verify your account is in good standing, not over the limit and verify the interest rate and your payment history.

Then they ask you to give them the Customer Service number on the back of your credit card.

They are able to tell you WHAT credit card company you are with from the 800 (866) number on the card AND they will give you the first number of your account!

Then they ask you to read them the rest of your credit card number! Of course, I refused and she told me that she need the number so they could verify the information with my company and that I needn't worry as I will "be on hold" while she is calling >:o( (Uhm yeah right!)

She will tell you that you are covered by the government for any charges and not to worry it's just to verify your account for lower interest rates.

I hung up at this point. THIS IS A SCAM TO GET YOUR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION! DO NOT ANSWER THE CALL OR GIVE THEM INFO! I suggest calling your local state police.

Answered, for giggles, and told me if I wanted to lower my credit card rates to press 9, so I did.  Some chick asked of I had pressed 9 and wanted to lower my rates today.  I asked her if this was a solicetation, and she hung up on me.  Hmm, considering I do not use Credit cards any more, why would I want to lower my rates?  Well, if they call again, I will give them some bogus information to see how they react and will let you all know.

Recording of woman offering to lower credit card rate. I didn't press 9 and they eventually hung up.

Prerecorded message asks you to press "9" to lower the interest rate on all your credit cards.  I touched "9" and got an agent.  I asked what company she works for.  She would only say "cardmember serveces".  I asked why they don't honor the do-not-call list.  She hung up.  I reported that call to donotcall.gov.

I just put in a Security Freeze and Fraud Alert with the Credit Agencies(for the first time) a month ago due to an incident that had me spooked, now this! Why am I not very surprised? I'd advise everyone to get one or the other to protect themselves. Fraud Alerts are free, Freezes are $10 with each agency.
