On 03/12/08 at 2pm
received call from 407-207-0820 which was an
automated message left on our voice machine was regarding lowering interest rates.
Called number back to tell them to remove our phone number and received a recording that the phone number had been disconnected.
Just got my daily call. I have filed complaints, but you can't get the name of the company (personally, I think they're identity thieves and not a company) and the caller id is spoofed so you don't even know where they are really located. They spoof different caller id numbers and locations. Yesterday, it was from W Palm Beach, today it's Orlando. Somedays they're trying to lower your interest rate on your credit card other days they're trying to extend a non-existent auto warranty. Not sure what a DNC complaint can do about that. It's been 4 months and they haven't done anything yet to stop these people. At least Florida is trying to make caller id spoofing illegal.
Chris, I just read your post. Pressing 2 obviously doesn't do anything as I noted above.
My recommendation is to press 1, give them a bogus name and bogus information and then see if you can figure out who the heck they are with. Maybe ask them for their website where you can review the information online but DO NOT GIVE THEM your email address unless you have a throwaway email address that you don't care if spam gets sent to.
