I got the same call tonight. He said "We are not a scam. We are just going to show you simple things you can do yourself to save energy. We are not going to try to sell you anything." But then he says my wife and I both have to be home "for tax purposes" becuase of the federal rebates. I'm not stupid. They are going to try to sell me something and need both of us there for the contract to be binding for an in home sale of something for the house. He gave me the same website. It is for companies selling solar products. Clearly they are going to come and try to sell you solar products. Don't let them come to your house. Any business that misleads people like this to get in the door cannot be trusted.
This one is interesting. I've received several calls from this number that I don't answer. No message left. Yesterday, I received a call with the caller ID of "Desai, R." but with a number other than this one. Today I received a call with the caller ID of "Desai, R." and this phone number. There's information in florida about a scam that is being run in which so called "energy savers" tell you that they are a non profit organization with authority from the local energy companies to do an energy audit on your house. The energy companies have never heard of them. One report says if you schedule such an appointment they might or might not show up. If they do, they do some kind of phony "energy audit" and then try to sell you some trumped up service to reduce your costs. White pages directory says this number is a cell phone. No real company is going to be using cell phones. I think they are trying to get around the Do Not Call regulation by pretending to be an energy audit service. Here is the link to the DNC site to complain and a link to the Florida site that talks about phone scams.
