A man with an Indian accent and a lot of background noise. The number that been left on my answering saying action was being brought against my husband by the "Department of Legal Affairs." My husband works out of town a lot so I called to try and handle the situation. The man was very rude and I ended up cussing at him. He ended our phone call by saying "I and my husband were going to be picked up in 30 mins." I cussed at him again and hung up. I contacted my local law enforcement and waiting on them to call me back.
I got this call too, very odd. Just for your information, the US Treasury's phone # is (202) 622-2000. They have nothing in question about me and wouldn't call. They would send a legal certified notice.
Per a news article on this same scam,
"The Treasury Department does not send unsolicited request and does not seek personal or financial information from members of the public by e-mail or phone," said an email from the Treasury Department.

I received a call from this number with the message that it was Gary Johnson (badly pronounced, by the way) and that he was calling from the Department of Legal Affairs. There was a threat about if I, or my attorney, had to call back or I would have a big "legal mess". I knew this was a scam because of the poor pronunciation of "Gary Johnson" as well as the caller not giving what "department" he was with.
The caller ID said San Jose, CA.
Thanks for all the info. I received a voicemail yesterday from Adam Walker. His message was comparable to what everybody else received but he did say something about "I should have a lawyer call him back" but his accent was tough to understand. It was pretty obvious from the start that the message was fake when he butchered my name. But I was concerned the number was 408-300-7044 which is in the south bay of California. Thanks for all the info. I hope he calls me back to have some fun.
Same series of calls
First call was from Gary Johnson (Really? They have got to start trying harder) Thought it was spam right away - same as defined above - asking for my lawyers information as they had a criminal complaint against me. Told him i didn't appreciate the call and that he should try getting a real job. Was surprised when he called me back, provided my address (okay so you can use the Internets) told me I would be arrested but while he claimed to have all my info he could not give me anything other than Landon Carter and the same number he was calling from. (That pretty much sealed it) - looked it up and as I was looking at this page the same stupid [***] called back again. Asked if it was Gary or Adam - told me it was Adam - then I gave him an earful. Really pissed at these stupid [***], how can these things not be shutdown instantly
Recieved a message on home phone from Adam Walker from Department of Legal Affairs. Said that the message was verbal notification of my "garbled garbled." I needed to call back 408-300-7044 and if I could not then my "garbled garbled" needed to otherwise i would be in a legal mess. He then said he looked forward to speaking with me and to have a blessed day.
