Same scam different number, they call everyday, id thieves and liars
might have to answer and give them deceased SS# and a credit card number on the hot sheat.
The Do Not Call Registry only affects legitimate businesses, and honest people. These criminals are provided with access to literally thousands of phone numbers by various phone companies. They use them to "spoof" caller I.d., "get around" call blockers, and frustrate authorities. Consumer Reports published an article that said the F.T.C. raided one of their "boiler room" operations that allegedly took in $18 million. That's $18 MILLION! They apparently just set up somewhere else, or else it's a new bunch of crooks. Why? what's the incentive to perpetuate this scam? Simple - it makes big money. Big money for the crooks, and big money for the phone companies - who charge these boiler room operations per phone line, then charge them for each phone call! Obviously, neither the crooks, nor the phone companies have the moral fiber to stop this annoying scam. But, to bring this down to a personal level, my advice is - just don't answer any call from a number you don't recognize. Hopefully, everyone has caller i.d., and some sort of answering machine. Someone (whose name I don't remember) on this site said something like "Annoying, scam phone calls seem to be here to stay". Sad but true
