I've been contacted by this company and OH BOY. The first time, I was informed that this was a legal office, NOT a debt collection agency. I asked for a bill, so that I could contact my old insurance company and see what happened. The agent said that it had been too long and they probably wouldn't be able to get that information. They did, however, send me their own bill on their own "letterhead" which didn't give me any actual information. After talking to a lawyer friend of mine, I sent them a letter that asked them to send me verification of the debt, aka a bill from the original owner of the debt. I sent this letter by certified mail, and asked that they also send me the verification by certified mail. I got the return receipt, and for a month, got no calls. Now, it's January, and they've started calling. I've been keeping a log of when they call, and the moment they get past the "This is David Reitman calling to collect a debt," I simply say that they need to send verification of the debt by certified mail, and until then, they need to stop contacting me, and then hang up. They've gotten pissy with me, and also offered to "make me a deal," but I've yet to see legal proof that I owe them money.
I got a call from this phone number today 03/25/2010. They left a message on my machine saying that it was a legal matter. I called back and gave them the case number they left on the message and it turned out to be an old hospital bill that I owed. When I asked the guy on the other end of the phone to please send the bill to my address he asked if I intended to pay the bill, I answered yes of course and that's when he got rude and said " Pay it now!" I said excuse me. he goes, Pay it right now with a check or credit card over the phone. I said, sir I don't give out that type of information over the phone, please send me the bill. He then said good-bye and hung-up.
I got a call like this too regarding my daughter. I told him to fax me documentation and that I would contact the hospital. He was aggressive and rude while trying to pressure me to resolve the matter through him immediately. When I explained that I was going to contact the hospital and insurance company he said, "Well, its too late for that and if you don't resolve this now then legal action will have to take place." I said, "Well, fine then serve me with papers!" andd hung up the phone.
I just called the hospital's billing department. There is no balance on my daughters account....a $0.00 balance. This is a fraudulent call! DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFO OVER THE PHONE!! DO NOT PAY THEM ANYTHING!!!!!!!
The nerve of this company calling me threatening me and my child. My account had been paid in full the hosital neglact to inform their office. Now I have to get in contact with my lawyer b/c a grown man found pleasure in threatening a 2 yr old child.
