I've been contacted by this company and OH BOY. The first time, I was informed that this was a legal office, NOT a debt collection agency. I asked for a bill, so that I could contact my old insurance company and see what happened. The agent said that it had been too long and they probably wouldn't be able to get that information. They did, however, send me their own bill on their own "letterhead" which didn't give me any actual information. After talking to a lawyer friend of mine, I sent them a letter that asked them to send me verification of the debt, aka a bill from the original owner of the debt. I sent this letter by certified mail, and asked that they also send me the verification by certified mail. I got the return receipt, and for a month, got no calls. Now, it's January, and they've started calling. I've been keeping a log of when they call, and the moment they get past the "This is David Reitman calling to collect a debt," I simply say that they need to send verification of the debt by certified mail, and until then, they need to stop contacting me, and then hang up. They've gotten pissy with me, and also offered to "make me a deal," but I've yet to see legal proof that I owe them money.
These jerks have been calling my ex-wife trying to collect something from a decade ago. The front as a law firm is bogus and they should be investigated.
I am getting the same call saying they are a law firm and to call back regarding a claim number. Needless to say it's obviously a scam of some sort, I don't have any claims. They are also calling from 914-517-6201.
I've just received a call from this office on a different number claiming that i owe a large hospital bill from three years ago. I had two different health insurance coverages at the time and am experiencing similar situations. They have called me from 877-340-8204
Same call was given to me yesterday from a Mr. Wilson at my mothers house which I haven't lived in for 6 years. They were calling for a hospital bill dated 7 years ago that was already paid back then. Give me a break- really?? Broken english on the voicemail but they were sure that the case # and phone# was heard loud and clear as my mom played the msg back to me. I called them back and knew off top, from all the voices in the back (as if it were a call center) that this was a fraud. When I requested for the bill to be sent to me via email or fax they refused and insisted that the bill be paid on the phone or a check be mailed out to them for that information- get real!
I simply told them that this didn't make any sense and that I will not be making any sort of payments on any bills dated 7 years ago without any information- period! Not to mention that this is the 1st attempt of them ever trying to contact me. They finally agreed to email me the bill after standing my guard and giving them nothing but a nasty attitude....sure enough no email was sent and they called me again today at work? For a second, I didn't know how they got the number but dummy me figuered out that I had called them from work when my mom gave me the message.
They stated that information can't be sent to me unless payment is made to them and legal action would be set in place. I said if this is indeed the case then my laywer and I will be waiting for the papers to be served and I hung up!
DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY FINANCIAL INFORMATION AS THIS IS TOTALLY A SCAM!!!
