Same number, called several times so I called back. Was asked if my name was "x" @address "y". Told him yes and he said my loan was approved for $9k. Told him this was a problem because I hadn't taken out a loan. When I started pushing for more info he hung up. Worrisome
Lady(?) called from the Go Installment Loan Co (at least it sounded like that). She had an extremely heavy accent and was hard to understand. The caller ID shows Harry Grant. Harry had a very soprano voice. She told me that I had been pre-approved for a $9000 loan. I told her that I didn't need a loan and she kept right on trying to sell her product. I redirected her thought process when I then told her that her loan offer was an obvious scam as they couldn't even get the caller ID information right. She tried defending the caller ID information by blaming it on a computer problem. She even read back the phone number that showed up on my caller ID but seemed to be tongue-tied when I told her that it showed Harry's name instead of Go Installment Loan. I asked her where she was located and she said in Texas. After that she went right back to trying to sell her loan but we never got to the fun part where she would probably ask for key information that they would need to get money out of my bank. She sounded so excited, like a wolf with a flock of sheep in it's sights, but since I had a pressing problem to take care of I just put the phone down and let her talk to my desk. Went back a few minutes later and she had disconnected. No problem as I'm sure another vulture is just around the corner.
They just called again. Usually these scammers wait a day or two. Anyway this time it was a guy but with the same heavy accent. I let him do his sales pitch and then asked how the weather was in India. He said he was in Texas and said it was really hot. He was right about that as it feels like 106 in Galveston right now. I ended up putting him on hold. My Panasonic phone has some of the most annoying computer generated hold music that would even make elevator music sound great. He eventually hung up. He must have enjoyed the music as he didn't hang up for almost 30 seconds. Fun times. Hope he calls back as I love having a battle of wits with an unarmed person.
Sorry I've missed this call, when I do answer such call, usually as soon as I find out it's not legit, I love to drive them crazy. First of all, I NEVER CONFIRM ANY INFO THEY'RE ASKING!!!...why give them so much information, let them wonder whether they connected with the right party...I ask them who they are and what is this call in regards to....keep asking till they obey you,....then I usually tell them, I'm delighted that they have called because I have a great deal for them....set of four used tires for only $500...most of the time they don't expect it and go quiet, as soon as they start talking...hang up!!!
