I am getting all this SMS'es from 1-410-000-008 from WindowsLive - MSG:Wyckoff,NJ tells me all about the weather. I called AT&T and they gave me an 800 number where I had to register my number. This according to AT&T will stop all unwanted calls and messages. I did that yeserday, but still continue to receive this crap messages.....please let me know if anyone is aware to stop this unwanted weather channel.
These are messages coming through a service called TextNow. Anyone using the service without an account (or more likely a messed up account since textnow is not that great) will show up as a text from 410 000 xxx where xxx just increments forever. Stupid attempt at unlimited texting for people who just can't come to grips with paying for a real texting plan.
About a week ago I received 76 texts all in 10 minutes at 12 PM. They were non-stop. I have Sprint. They kept coming in one after another. The only thing the text said was O. They all came from my ex who has an I-Phone. I contacted him to tell him to stop and he said he did not know what I was talking about and that his phone did not register any texts, according to him. After that I changed my number, thinking he wanted to bother me.
Well today my brother calls me to tell me that my boyfriend is sent him 243 texts and to tell him to stop. The sender was not my boyfriends number its was not even a complete number, but in the message it said his name. My brother has the I-Phone. My boyfriend has US Cellular. So I called my boyfriend to tell him to stop or turn his phone off. He says he hasn't sent any messages and that he doesn't even have my brothers number. Plus, he is at work and still was at the time those messages were sent. He doesn't have access to a computer at work so he couldn't have sent them from his email.
My brother ended up calling AT&T to see what was going on. The lady at AT&T said that she received the same thing but to her e-mail address. She says that the sender of the messages to my brothers cell phone was either from an e-mail or an online source because the number was not complete. She also stated that she believes it is a virus. She had no other information on this problem.
The number that showed up as the sender on his phone was 1 (410) 000-278... The last 3 numbers that came up were the number of messages that were sent because they kept changing for every single text that was sent. they went from 1,2,3....278
