Funny, all these fabricated ' bad checks' are from 2007. Mt elderly parents are getting30+ calls a day from "investigator steve larson". Claiming they have a bad check from 2007 and do they want to be arrested. Then he tries to trick them into giving out their checking account number to pay for a debt they do not have. This is a scam. Do NOT listen to these people. No one from Maryland can issue warrants in any other state. Call your phone company harrassment dept. Then call the police and file a complaint. State Attorney General as well. This is a well-known scam.
This guy and some other person name Investigator Wilcox called and said I had a bad check from 2008. When I asked that he fax me the information with a copy of the check, he said he couldn't do it because he only had certain documentation...told me this was criminal charge...I won't answer any more calls from him.
I received a call from both Steve Larson and Steve Wilcox 410-305-7557, b/c of a bad connection on the first call. Both names have the same number on the CallerID. The caller, Steve Wilcox, told me he was looking for my brother. Wilcox claimed he needed contact info b/c he was investigating check fraud for Schwann's (you know, the frozen food delivery trucks). He said he was looking for my brother in Mississippi. I asked him why he was looking for my brother, who might be in Mississippi if he was from a Maryland phone number. Wilcox said, "oh, I am all over." Anyway, this is definitely weird. I think it's a scam or he's just a debt collector hired to do "dirty" debt collecting on debts that are out of the statute of limitations. A REAL investigator would not explain WHY he was looking for the info in the detail that this Wilcox did. I know, I've been called by REAL investigators before. Usually, too, they come in person. This Wilcox claimed he was trying to reach my brother so he could find out if the bounced check was never paid as a mistake. He said he was investingation the POTENTIAL for a warrant for arrest for check fraud. OMG!!!
Investigator Steve Wilcox calls a family member supposedly looking for me about a check written in 2007. Whoever you are Steve, show yourself so we can meet in person. I would really like to get this situation cleared up for myself and everyone else you are scamming.
