Telemarketiing call re: security system scam. Pressed 1 to be put on Their Do Not Call list, even though we're already on federal DNC list. Many calls from different numbers recently using same scam.
I'm With u On That Do Not Call List. I Believe It Was The Gov Way To Get Your/Our Phone Numbers Since There Are A LOt Of people Who Have Unlisted Numbers. This Way The "Man" Can Eves Drop & Or Record.. PrettY Sneaky, Right?
Having an unlisted number cannot protect you from unwanted calls that are placed by an autodialer that simply calls all numbers in an area code and exchange one after the other. Placing that number on the DNC list does allow honest business that are making sales calls to avoid calling your number since the autodialer can have the DNC list loaded as a set of exclusions and skip those numbers in the sequence. That leaves exempt callers and scammers who can still call your unlisted number with an autodialer.
We are repeatedly getting multiple calls from this number. No message left on answering machine. Answered phone several weeks ago to a slick computer voice.
I called this number back and just received a message telling me that if I want to be removed from their calling list to press 1 and allow 48 hours for this to happen. I also blocked future calls on my phone.
