Telemarketiing call re: security system scam. Pressed 1 to be put on Their Do Not Call list, even though we're already on federal DNC list. Many calls from different numbers recently using same scam.
I believe this number is being used in conjunction with
1-415-251-8791 as a SCAM claiming to be from Tax and Audit Division of the IRS! It was the first phone call which led to voice mails from an "officer" claiming dire consequences if you don't return the call. They are menacing! Threatened a warrant for my arrest, cited tax codes I allegedly broke and jail time! I have contacted local police, IRS fraud & posted warning through social media.
Sorry, but all you did by pressing any # was to confirm that yours is a working #, guaranteeing many more calls. These scammers don't care that you are on the DNC list. Best approach: block the # if you have that feature; otherwise, if you have caller ID, do not recognize the #,or see Unavailable or Out of Area, JUST DON'T ANSWER.
Samsung S4 users go to settings, select my device, select calls, select call block, under the incoming call menu select block calls and make sure the call block list only is highlighted. If call block list only is highlighted select cancel and go back to the incoming call menu select call block list, select create and type in the number, select save. The number should be added to your blocked call list and you should not be bothered with 410-387-7544 again. Or any other number you add to your list. There is also a youtube video out there that explains how to do this. That's where I learned how to do it.
