I got the same call from the same number. It must be automated and masked because the number I called back was some poor old man in MD. Anyway, I wanted to call back to troll them hard and waste their time while having a laugh. It is blatantly obvious it was a scam, and even to those that fell for it a little... nothing ever works that way. The IRS would never do that type of thing, its a government agency. They take their sweet time with mail and assessments and more mail and more red tape and more mail and maybe a phone call that you initiate... its never "GET TO THE CHOPPA!!".
Received a call from this number and was told to deposit $4873.63 to the merchant account of IRS imediatelly. Otherwise will be arrested tomorrow morning for 5 years for some oversea transactions. Went to the bank and cash out $5000. He told me to go to the Bank of America to deposit the money. He wanted me to be on the phone with him for all that time while I was in the bank. Putted him on mute and called my lawyer to ask if I am doing the right thing, lawyers asked me to make a three way call so he can confirm that was the IRS agent . When my lawyer started asking him question about him and his agency he did not have proper answers and simply said bye and hanged up. I call him back so many times and he did not answered my calls, he is a scammer from India and just wanted to say that I hate Indians after that accident. How IRS and government can't protect us from those idiots , they are calling us from IRS number too, I also received the call from 800 IRS numbers. I hope that idiots will get cut someday and should go to the jail
Received a call claiming to be the IRS Hotline telling me to call back with my SSN and name urgently regarding a time sensitive action before legal action is pursued.
I received a call also. Thank GOD He gave me discernment to look this number up before I called them back. It was a message on my answering machine. Oh LORD, Please protect all of these innocent people who have been contacted, and give them discernment not to send these scammers any money. In JESUS Mighty Name. Amen.
