The funny thing is. I have asked to be removed from the calling list of St Jude (total of 7 different groups so far: the different groups are all call centers calling on their behalf) and I will continue getting calls until their current round of donation requests is done. Really pisses me off that they call like this every time my grandfather sends a donation in the mail.
Who's going to stop it? If you have no information, or haven't talked to anyone, who's to now if it's either a scam or marketing call? You have more power to stop them than anyone else on here does, all we can do is advise you what to do.
Received call from this number this afternoon.
Using the anonymous call back at "whocalld.com" I was able to ascertain the company name.
They are MDS Communications, a telephone fund raising company that has various clients.
You need to be careful since some of these fund raisers (not saying MDS is one of these) will only return a very small portion of your donated dollars to the charity/cause. This small return legalizes their income in the eyes of the government.
Received call reflecting only the call # and Clairton, PA. Left no message. Deleted call and blocked #. Holidays are coming and so are the scams and the telemarketers.
Building on info from Will - you might want to check any calls or mail from charities with "Charity Navigator" > an online website that will let you see what the charity is about and how much money actually goes to the needy vs, "administrative costs" and the CEO. We all want our dollars to do the most good for the most needy.
