Received call on Sunday morning. I answered because it said customer contact....no one there. We also are on do not call list and have received many unwanted calls.
I've found a way to get off these lists, at least to a degree. Works fairly well but only when a real person is on the other end. It worked with this caller as there was a man on the other end. Make up a fake business name for yourself. When you pick up, say: Thank you for calling Jean's Bakery, Marsh Telephone Surveys, Ben's Paving, Harvey's Pool Hall, etc....... Whatever you can rip off easily as if you do it a 100 times a day. In most cases, the person on the other end will begin their speal. Wait until they have completed their canned speech, then politely explain they have contacted a business and don't appreciate wasting time to drop what you are doing to answer an unsolicited call. They typically jump right to the, "we are sorry to disturb you and will remove your number from our database" speal. Normally, I never hear from them again. I think they feel its a wasted of time calling a business. Worth a try anyway. In this particular case, the man politely stated he was sorry but has reached the wrong number. Wished me a good day and hung up.
