Stop calling or I will report this to the better buisness bureau. the number your calling me at is 920-887-7305. not very good representation of wisconsin firefighters.
The thing is with this 'company', they were hired (as MOST non-profits hire out their money raising now) to gather money. The one they do NOT tell you is that you are 'allowed' to send the money DIRECTLY to the fund they are calling you about (ie Wisconsin Firefighters) - if you send THEM the money (as they HOUND you to do) they keep it. It's part of the agreement they make with whatever non-profit they 'work for'. It's usually a 90-10 split.
Nice to know that if you donate your hard earned $ it's not going to the fund you want it to, eh?
Also, they will NOT remove you from the no call list. If you are on the list (both Wisconsin and Federal lists - and check and make sure that you are, they both just recently dumped thousands of previously registered phone numbers - mine was and I found out about when this company started calling me again), file complaints with the FCC and the state complaint websites. They are NOT allowed to call if you tell them to remove you, and you want to make sure you keep on filing (daily if necessary) complaints in regards to them violating the NCList.
The ONLY way that non-profits can call you is they ARE the ones calling you (ie - the actual firefighters are calling you, or police officers, etc) - these other groups do not fall under the clause for non-profits because they are working for money. Specifically a client.
Also, make sure to report them for NOT showing up the complete name of who they are. They are NOT allowed to block their name or phone number when calling. Which they are doing now with me. It just shows Wisconsin Call with the phone number. I'm putting them back on block till my name shows back up on the DNC list.
Called and hung up when I answered. I have a lot of Fire Fighter friends who are really cool. What tool did they hire to call and hang up on people when they answer.
I asked what caller wanted, and they were just exceedingly rude and wouldn't tell me. I politely told them I wasn't going to answer his question until he answered mine (my question was just "what are you calling about"). He went on a rant. I stayed polite, but he hung up with a loud "Hmmphhh".
I wasn't surprised to now find the number was one of those firefighters association scams like shown on 20-20.
