Asked for me by name to ask for a 'firefighter' donation. Whitepages.com reverse lookup says 'Center Stage ATA dba Prof. Firefighters of Wisconsin 1429 S 70 St West Allis WI 53214.'
Thanks to all the info here, I will be filing a Do Not Call violation complaint with the FTC as they are a for-profit corp. Will also call the actual firefighters Assoc. to complain about their using Center Stage ATA for solicitations and will suggest that they read the postings here at 800notes.
Same as the above calls... people talking amongst themselves, but no response when I answered. Lasted for maybe 20-30 seconds before they hung up on me.
Good times...is there a polite way to turn down telemarketer calls? If so... what is it?
I got a call from this # today, he asked if this was <me> I said yes, he identified himself as from being from Prof. Firefighters of Wisconsin and asked how I was today. I replied, "I'm fine but I can tell you right now I'm not interested." He replied, "Not interested in what...all I did was ask how you were" I said, "In giving money - but go along with your spiel if you have to, but my answer will still be no."
He replied, "I think it's funny that you're not interested in something I haven't even told you about yet...I hope you and your family have a safe year."
I was just trying to save his time and mine - My answer is (and always has been no) to this group...I guess I could just hang up next time but then they'd keep calling...whatever.
I received a call from these clowns today and told them that I'm not interested and I never donate over the phone. He said, "Do you have a mintue to listen to me?" And I said "no thank you" (afterall it is my minute, right?). In a very rude tone, he said "You don't even had a MINUTE?!". That set me off.
I called the number in Madison that was posted on this message. She told me they will look into it and asked me for my number. I'm not sure how much good this is doing as that message was posted almost a year ago and it is clearly still happening.
