I got a call also. Same thing, male with thick accent. He wanted me to send money claiming he was from the irs. I called the number back after hours and got a message saying this call has been transferred to voicemail. I did not leave a message since I believe I would get an IRS answering service. BEWARE ALL.
I feel very upset when I get these calls. I have had at least three of these from this Smith automated voice person. The return number to call changes each time it seems (202) 241-7903, (415) 234-9621, and one that started with 02. I didn't get to write the full number down on the third one. I have enough stress in my life and I don't need these type calls to make me feel any more anxious. Last caller Id on this was NOVATO CA
My husband just received a voice message from 415-234-9621, he called him back because of the message he left, sounded like a man with an indian accent, said his name was IRS Agent Steve Foster, and I needed to give him $4998.99 or the police will be sent to my house immediately. He asked my husband to go to the bank and get a bank voucher and bring it to a location. My husband said, this sounds like a scam, I need to talk to my wife first, I can't just take $5k out of the bank without talking to her. The man said, you can't take money out of your bank without asking your wife? Madison, CT 11-21-14
I received the same call as described in previous comments. Called back and was directed to voice mail, This type of scam needs to be stopped immediately. The first victims that come to mind are seniors, who may not be as skeptical. Antyone who gets this call should warn their family members and friends.
