Got a call this morning at 8:45 (Saturday) with a recorded message saying there is an IRS matter to settle and for us or our lawyer to call back on the number from the caller ID. We called the number right back and they asked for a case number - which of course we didn't have. They said there is an outstanding issue. We said we have no outstanding issues with IRS, the guy (sounded of Indian descent) said "you don't"? We said no and he hung up immediately.
Wow same thing happened here! Got a call this morning at 10:07am (Saturday) with a recorded message saying there is an IRS matter to settle and for us or our lawyer to call back on the number from the caller ID. I called the number right back and they asked for a case number. I told him I had no case number. They wanted personal information and told me that he was sending the police over to my house to arrest me and my sister. (My sister lives 30 minutes from me.) They said we owed taxes over the last five years. I told him this made no sense! He immediately hung up on me. Again like the above post, the guy sounded of Indian descent. I called back four times and someone answered and I was disconnected.
This kind of garbage has got to stop. Received a call about 9:30 this a.m.(12/8) . They said they were the IRS about owing back taxes. LOL!! They think we're stupid. IRS doesn't operate this way. Call report was from California area.Hope they enjoyed my new answering machine. Please put them out of business or out of the U.S.A. Thanks!
Call ID said NOVATO CA. Info same as others, claiming to be from IRS, but the woman gave her "name" and said she hoped we were having a good day (adding insult to injury!). I did not call back.
