I just got a call from the 415-236-3638 number too, with a very bad recording of Nikki Johnson. First off, since when do these voice recordings say stop when she comes to a period in her sentence, and say have a good day, at the end of her message? Big flag there! The IRS isn't that nice!!!
I just got this same call. It was an automated message claiming to be from Agent Nicki Johnson. The message said I and my attorney needed to call them back about my taxes and penalties @ 415-236-3638.
People, PLEASE DON'T FALL FOR THIS!!!. This is a total SCAM. The number they called me on was my cell phone. I have never listed my cell number on any of my tax returns. Also, if the IRS needed to speak to you about penalties you would receive some type of correspondence by mail.
I just received a call from this number as well. I called it back and they said they were looking for me (stated my maiden name.) He then asked me if I had my attorney's number handy or if I had a lawyer cause there was an issue with my taxes. I told him that all I did this year was get married and change my name so there should be NO REASON that I would need a lawyer at all. He said "Oh. Well let me go address this issue and I'll get back to you on the matter." And then hung up on me. Hopefully someone who actually is an agent for the IRS can do something about these people.
I just got the same caller, Nikki Johnson from the IRS. Just to let you all know..they IRS does not call individuals, they send letters. This is a total scam, putting this number on my blocked list.
