Received a call from 415-236-3638 (a machine call) stating there is an important matter that needs to be discussed with the IRS (Did not say Internal Revenue Service) and that I should call back to Nikki Johnson of the IRS. Searched the inter-net and found this site. My wife is a CPA and is tax preparer for individuals and business and this is not what the IRS does. They will first mail you, if anything and as someone else has stated. If you receive a call, contact your local IRS office and talk to them. If there is a problem they will direct you to the correct IRS officer. The IRS agents we have dealt with for clients and us have been exceptionally professional, helpful in directing you to the right person or case manager and will contact you by mail first. Believe it or not the IRS is really will to help you.
yes they also claim that there was mail sent to me and it return back to them.
Same recording from N J. In San Francisco.
I wasn't to alarm by it bc I sent in my tax return and received my little sum of money.
Have received calls from 415-236-3638 and 415-226-6162 claimed to be from IRS Nicky Johnson left message in my phone that I have to call back at each number before they take action against me. Reported both to TIGTA’s website, www.treasury.gov/tigta
I just got a call, b/c I didn't recognize the number, I didn't answer it. got the message (which was a recording) called back in 1 minute, asked for nikki Johnson. this indian man said she left for the day. I said in 1 minute she left for the day? yes she just left... fine, what is this re: its personal. wtf? had my last name right, but not my first initials also had an address I lived at 5 years ago. Then when I questioned the fact that the IRS doesn't have any more information on any current name or address and that they had my initials wrong, he hung up on me, then blocked me from calling. I despise people like this and hope they choke on the phone cord and die! Fricken criminals.
