I received several similar calls. Both at home and work. I had the local sheriff's department call them back. The officer said there was a 1000 fine for that type of behavior and the guy (Max) got nervous. Has called once since. I e-mailed the company that supposedly started the mess, one I paid off almost a year ago. Telling them of the situation and the fine, in addition I pointed out the officer suggested I sue for harassment. I have not heard back. If anyone finds out enough to file charges let me know.
I just got the same type of call saying that I owed some amount of money and that I was going to be taken to jail at 11am tomorrow. This is the second time this has happened and when I tell them to forward the documents to me so I can forward it to my lawyer nothing ever happens. All they ever say is that I owe the money and that they have an affidavit from someone and good luck. Someone needs to get this to 60 Minutes or Dateline so they can investigate this scam.
I received a call from this number saying they have an urgent message for my sister (they gave her name) How they knew that info is beyond me. They also called my sister. The urgent message was that if she didn't call immediately or have her attorney call, they couldn't help her & wished her good luck. Could hardly understand the guy -- heavy foreign accent & lot of back ground noise. What exactly is the scam here?
