I am always suspicious when I get an Out of Area caller ID when the area code shows it is clearly in my area - so I figure they are trying to hide who they are. I work at home and am CONSTANTLY interrupted by scammers, robo callers, solicitations, charities, etc - 7 days per week! It has gotten so bad, that I refuse to answer these OoA, Unknown, 800, 888, 866, etc calls - no doubt I have missed some work related calls, but since they do not leave a message, I doubt very many, if at all. The main problem seems to be (and I see this all the time with other comments), that telling them you are not interested - or asking them not to call - means nothing to them and is a waste of your breath (and patience). Further, I do not donate money to unsolicited phone callers - and if you do, they will sell your number and you will be hounded for years to come (I learned the hard way). I wish the Do Not Call registry was worthwhile, but it clearly is not.
I just received another call from them and they identified themselves as "the Energy Savings Group." They claim to be a non-profit organization but they are anxious to send a variety of private companies to me. Difficult to get more information from them so I did what I often do when I receive too many robocalls from a source. I set up an appointment so I can swear at someone in person. With some robocallers, such as The Carpet Cleaning Company, I sometimes need to set up several appointments and swear at several people who come to my door before they get the message. These are not the brightest people in the world, but they eventually realize that it is not a good idea to continue to call me.
Caller ID: Out Of Area
I do not answer calls from numbers I do not recognize; I let our answering machine screen calls. This call was a recorded message; something about replacing appliances for updated ones - likely an energy solicitation as others have mentioned. Recording says "Press _ to be removed from our list" ... NO!, definitely not. YOU should NOT be calling me in the first place!!!!! More proof these unscrupulous businesses are not viewing the Do Not Call List.
