I also got a threating call from this number and listened to the message when I got home from work. Before calling back I looked up the number online because I really thought that the IRS would send a letter. As you can see I am just one of the many people that these S.O.B.'s are trying to scam. I really hope they get what's coming to them.
Well, the scam is, they say they are IRS and all sorts of bad things are now going to happen to you because you made some mistake on your taxes. But, of course, they can make the whole thing go away if you just send them some money by untraceable Green dot money paks. And that's about it. They are scammers located in either India or Pakistan. Ignore them. Block their calls. Do not return their calls!
This is a scam in which someone calls pretending to work for the IRS in an attempt to obtain personal information such as your social security number. Why isn't it illegal to pretend to be a government office or an affiliate of one? The IRS contacts people by mail not by phone.
Under "Call Type" there should be an option to select "scam"
I received several phone messages a few months ago from this & another number. Same MO as previous comments (IRS, sheriff was on his way to arrest me, etc.). Just received another voicemail today -- the only difference was that the previous messages were "real" people & this one was automated.
Returned phone call went straight to VM.... I told them to pound sand!
call came in at 10:09 AM today, December 8th. It was a very strange call just telling me that I am "in trouble" but not giving any name or with who I am in trouble with. Since it was on my answering machine they didn't leave any details. I called Las Vegas metro police fraud department and they said they get people calling about these calls also. plus, they get the same calls! They just said to ignore it or contact the FTC. I tried calling back with my google phone on my computer which is not my regular phone number and they did not answer. Another call blocked!
