I got threatened with jail time by these people yesterday. They claimed to be the IRS. I hung up, called them back and this same Filipino guy said they were coming right over. Throughout the day I repeatedly called them back from different phone lines and told them I was Agent Smith from Treasury Department and we were shutting them down.
Just got two calls form these [***]. They made threats and said they were from the IRS,, via my voice mail. What concerns me is they had my name and my number is unlisted.
They called me and represented that they were from the investigation department of the I R S and there was a warrant out for my arrest - that it was a nonbailable offense and that I would spend six months in jail - but I could stop all the proceedings if I paid them 10563.00. I called my lawyer, he explained this scam is a felony.
Plus, if you really owed back taxes, the IRS would WRITE you - they don't call you out of the blue first and they certainly don't threaten you with fraud, jail time, etc. Report the caller to the real IRS at www.irs.gov.
