Just got this one on my (Rogers) Cell.
Tried to call back, the call would not go through.
I normally get maybe one spam call per month, but in the last few days there have been a bunch from the USA.
It looks like my name has been put into some caller list; as it happens, I did leave my number at a website last week - but since it was an ISC2 security organization, I figured it was safe.
2 evenings in a row! I had been expecting a call last night and didn't check but screened it tonight. So how can we Block this number? I have a cell phone from Bell and this is the first call of this type in all the years I have had this number.
This # called my "Rogers" cell at 7:20 pm AST. A recorded voice announced, "Congratulations, you have won a prize. Please press '1' to collect your prize".
It repeated the message twice then disconnected.
I NEVER give my cell phone number to anyone other than friends and this is the 1st time I have EVER received a telemarketer on my cell.
Very startling ..... I'm sorry I even answered the call because now "they" have confirmation that it is an active line!
Same thing.. Got call on my new FIDO number (less than 10 days old). Since all complaints in Canada are Rogers customers, it looks like Rogers/Fido ARE SELLING their client list to TELEMARKETERS. Shame on them.
