After 30-40 calls to my home, someone finally had the guts to say anything. The [***] telemarketer had a thick, hasty East Indian accent and rushes through his questions. Here was the word-for-word conversation, and I suggest you follow suit (if you are so lucky to find someone who has the guts to answer the phone on their own call, it took 40 tries in my case), as I have since not had a call in the past week.
Me: Hello? (Pause 3 seconds) Hello? (Pause) Hello? ...about to hang up...
[***]: ...10 seconds later... Are you owner of house?
Me: Yes
[***]: You need duct cleaning.
Me: (Speaking very slowly and clearly). Just had it done. Ducts were cleaned last week. OK for next 10 years.
[***]: You need duct cleaning. We have special 50% off.
Me: I don't need it, I just had the ducts cleaned last week.
[***]: When you have cleaning?
Me: Last week. Don't need cleaning. Take me off your list. Stop calling. I repeat, stop calling.
[***]: Click.
We keep getting a phone call from this number too. We too are located in Ottawa. When we answer there is dead air and then someone hangs up. As for the duct cleaning comments, i keep getting these calls too, but it is from a 306 area code I believe and when i said to take me off their calling list or i would report them they said that we will call you back later m'am. When I said no they will not or I will report them they just kept stating they will call me back later. So far I haven't had a call back from the 306 # but did from the 416 # last night again. They call a few times a week.
I got this call several times and found this forum. The last time they called I actually setup an appointment for duct cleaning and gave another duct cleaning business as my address :) Fun times!
same crap they call and call and call and the ignorant person on the line can't even speak our language. There should be a law against that. We live in Canada for GODS sake learn how to speak our language. I AM NOT IMPRESSED
