They are a debt collector company. In accordance with the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act, they're not allowed to disclose why they are calling for a person. They could get into trouble and end up paying more than they are trying to collect. That's why they say this call is being recorded. They need proof that they did not violate the law in trying to collect a debt. If you don't want them to call your number, you should just tell them to remove your name from their list because that person does not live there. They should comply and if they continue to try to collect by calling your number, they are breaking the law and could be held accountable for that as well. Just record their conversation like they do you just in case they screw up and reveal who and what they are calling about. also view the FDCPA at http://www.ftc.gov/enforcement/rules/rulemaki ... ctices-act-text
Called for someone else on the voicemail. Never pick up unknown numbers. Sounds like a collectors attitude. Obviously they didn't listen to the voicemail that it's a girls phone number.
Received a call from 419-794-9076. Caller left a message for a person I've never heard of. The message stated that the call was being recorded for legal purposes and that anyone other than "Melissa" could be legally prosecuted for listening to the message.
I keep getting calls that come up UCB. They call two to three times a day! They are calling my fax line lmao! I don't answer lol;) Anyway does anyone know for sure who is calling?
Got the call today asking for my daughter who lives in the northeast and I live in the south. Daughter has not lived with us for over 15 years. Asked for her phone # which I refused to give. She spewed out a phone # for my daughter to call. Sure I wrote it down NOT!
United Collections used to be called MCM Midland Credit management still are in a couple states where they are not being sued . These people are bottom feeders they buy old junk debt . debt thats either been long charged off or written off the books so they use scare tactics on people telling them all sorts of wonderful tales to get money from them . They don't have any clue that everyone knows they have no power. All one needs to do is call them out by asking to see the original debt which they in no way have . All they have is an account number and the name of the creditor they bought it from . Nothing more . So tell them you live in cardboard box on a heating grate somewhere . i had fun with them knowing it was them on the line picked it up and yelled " OH MY GOD HE'S DEAD THERE'S BLOOD EVERYWHERE " WHAT DO I DO ???? they hung up never called again
