They never actually sent you anything from a collection agency?? They keep calling me because I changed my card number so they couldnt take any money from me for two months and I actually answered today and was told after the third month they are sending it to collections. I have no way of receiving the letter anyway because i've moved since then but I really dont want that on my credit report if they do..
This number has called me three times today. At 11:00 pm, I googled the number and found this website. I called it back and they said it was a publishing company or a magazine company, the woman with the southern accent could not decide. I told her to take me name and number off the list, but she insisted that I needed to give her further information. THIS NUMBER IS A SCAM!!! BEWARE!!!!
Same woman with a southern accent called me, google, found this. She said I'd won a $500 Shopping spree and asked for some info. I didn't really have any information to give them, but still a scam.
How dare these people act so scandelous to scam a nieve, gullable person like myself. im 19 years old and thought that a $500 online shopping spree sounded awesome. Even better i was amazed to hear i was selected because i supposedly had "great credit" i felt proud that I at such a young age had great credit when all i have to pay is my car insurance (which i pay every month on time) well my gullable personality soon become stupidity when my grandmother realized who i was talking to and giving my information such as my debit card # and SS#... i tried to tell them nevermind that i thought it was a bad idea but the lady basically talked over me and quickly began the process of information...it was too late! i immediantly hung up and cancelled my debit card (they already had charged $69.99) then i put a fraud alert on all the credit companies and i am now a member of lifelock. i only pray they wont do any damage to my credit. and i have been telling everybody i know of these "mountain area communications" representatives and the game their playing!!! this has to stop!!!
Woman with a southern accent ( her name is supposedly Lindsey) told me I had won a $500 shopping spree. She started talking about how I could get up to 10 magazines for free, I would just need to pay the shipping cost of $4 a month. She "transferred me" back to herself with a normal voice and started asking for my debit or checking account info. I told her I was at work and didn't carry that information with me. When they asked how long I had worked at my job I lied because I had a strange feeling about this call. Don't let these people scam you. They also called from other numbers.
They called me at 8:45 at night with a loud party it sounded like in the background (I head laughter) and then they told me I won a $500 online shopping spree. They knew my home address (they called my cell phone which is under a friends name) and wanted to know if I would like SIXTEEN different magazines and all I had to pay was shipping and handling.
They tried saying that my credit card company gave the number to them. They couldn't tell me if I had a Visa or Mastercard, so I lied and said the opposite of what I had, gave them the wrong age and then told them to get rid of my info or I would call the police. If you're going to scam people, wouldn't you at least try to block their number?
The number they called from was 423-317-9049 but under the same Mountain Area Communications name as the one above. Call the main office and no one ever answers...
Also, a reverse number search shows that the number comes up as a private residence. Go figure. What kind of company would have a residential phone number? A not-so-smart con-artist.
