I contacted both my credit card company (visa) and my bank after 3 of their calls, and neither gave that info out. This is a scam.

Report it to your CC company and hopefully they will make some notice of it on their website or something.

I also got scammed by these people.  I got several calls from different women to "confirm" my enrollment in their magazine subscription program.  When I was on the phone with them, I was able to calculate my "savings", and it ended up being more expensive than buying the magazines retail...When I asked to be un-enrolled, the lady on the phone quickly replied, "I already took you out of the system," and then quickly hung up.  This is DEFINITELY a scam...the charges were later on my online bank statement.  I had to cancel my debit card and report them to the fraud department at my bank.  If you have already been charged too, I suggest you do the same...good luck!

Okay....I'm a complete idiot. Let's go ahead and get that out of the way. These guys called me saying I won a $500 shopping spree because I was a prefered customer. Trust me, if I hadn't been busy and so tired I wouldn't have agreed.

Basically, free subscriptions to six different magazines came as a bonus and all I had to pay was shipping, which was $3.85 a week. They had the first numbers of my credit card, my name, and my address already so I assumed it was legitimate. They said I could pay the money accumulatively every month, or 20 monthly payments of $49.00. Yes, I know how to do simple math. Obviously $3.85 times 4 is not $49.00, but at the time I was under the influence of powerful sleeping meds so I was in a daze. Even then, I blame myself.

So 20 monthly payments of $49.00 comes out to almost $1,000, twice the amount of the shopping spree, therefore making them about $500 over time. I'm supposed to get information about this "offer" in the mail within a couple days, but even if it does come I've agreed to their payments so they will make money off me. I'm unable to contact them (imagine that) about cancelling. IF I get the information in the mail, and IF it has a return address, perhaps I will try and use that to contact them, but from what I remember about the conversation they were very convincing so they wouldn't be stupid enough to leave any sort of trail, except these phone numbers 1 423 317 8519    1 423 317 8561    423 733 8137    and their "customer service line" 1 866 900 2719

I wish I could remember the conversation, but here are a couple things. I spoke to three different people, all women. They asked me the same questions many times and very rapidly. They made small talk and asked me questions about work and school. They told me their names, and the one I remember is Linda.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if anybody has had a similar experience please post it here AND email me at [email protected]    THANKS!!!!

I just had the exact same experience today!!!!!!! Needless to say afterwards I went ahead and called my CC companys and canceled all current cards to prevent this scandle from ruining my life.

Everything Chris explained is exactly what happened to me. I first got a call from a Latasha stating I won a $500 online shopping spree. I'm not and idiot and immediately asked why - she replied b/c I must have an excellent credit score and that I'm a preferred customer. So I asked how and why am I "preferred" she danced around the question and kept redirecting me to this 6 magazine subscriptions that I receive as a gift for 60 months. All they need is to verify information and I would have to pay for shipping of $3.85 a week which covers all 6 titles. So I said okay (still wonder what in the heck) Then I ask how they got my number b/c they called me at work and I don't usually give out my work number so I was a little confused. After she explains that I should be receiving all this in the mail yada yada she tells me shes going to transfer me to her Supervisor. I complied and waited on the line...then I get Casey on the phone she asks how Latasha did and I said fine and continued to ask her "WHY" I was chosen and she tells me it's b/c of being in good standing with some subscription I have - haha funny things is I DO NOT get any magazines...so that didn't work. I tell her that and she says it must be from being in good standing with one of my credit card companys. I only use Discover and they DO NOT sell their customers info. I just agreed so we could continue on this scandalous journey.

Now she is verifying my information - name, address, phone, CC - she also knew the first 4 of my Discover (later I find out all Discover cards have the same first four digits) then she asks for my SOS # b/c they use it as their "account number" I said um no I can not give that to you...she quickly yet kindly said okay ma'am and continued on! Now she wants me to do a recorded verification thing on the phone...it asks you questions about how many magazine subscriptions, you payment installment, how many payments your making and using what CC. Odd part is - if you answer incorrectly the live gal gets back on the line (like she's listening) and says I'm sorry did you not understand that question..she'll proceed to tell you the answer and expects you to say it. So I continue..now we're done with Casey but she said someone will call back shorly to follow up.

Within 5 minutes later I get a call from 423-317-8561, lady names Mary is on the line and is asking me questions and I told her I just don't like this and she continues to ask why and blah blah - I explain how it's 2008 and to forgive me for my curiosity but NOTHINGS a free gift and it just doesn't seem to flow. Now she's frustrated and apologizes that I've been mislead...she explained that if I didn't like the 6 magazine for 49 a month I could pick a smaller package of 4 mags for $29 a month...I said oh really b/c I didn't know there were packages to choose from. Again she apologizes and so I try to tell her I do NOT want any magazines and she said basically that I didn't have a choice - so I said whatever do the 4 (b/c I wanted to see how far this could go) Finally at the end she reminds me that I should be getting info in the next few days and reminds me to not cancel my subscription and the tells me of anything "FREE" offer. This time I get a 30 day trial of a membership to get discount movie tickets, coupons, etc. and after 30 days I will be charged 34.95! I said NO! I don't need any money saving membership - she told me I get it anyways and just to call her to cancel before they charge me the 34.95. I agreed - knowing that if that were the real case I would call their customer service number 1-866-900-2719 and it would be disconnected. I might be a young 23 year old naive woman but I'm not F^%$#*& stupid!

Beware people - I do NOT trust them...

The number that contacted me were:
LaTasha - 423-317-9089
Mary - 426-317-8561
Customer Service - 1-866-900-2719
