ANYONE, ANY CALLER OR COMPANY, THAT CALLS YOU AND WHEN YOU PICK UP AND YOU SAY HELLO SAYS YOUR NAME (and you dont know the number) IS A SCAM!!!
ANYONE, ANY CALLER, OR COMPANY THAT ASKS ANY INFORMATION SUCH AS BANK ACCT, SOCIAL SEC. OR ASK TO VERIFY YOUR ADDRESS AND YOU DID NOT CONTACT THEM FIRST, IS A SCAM (not saying that all companies are, but usually soliciting phone calls where they say your name, make you an offer, when you say no, they reduce the offer, are just not legite) Tell them, if they would like that information, you woould like them to send something to you first, perhaps via e-mail or mail, (tell them not to contact you by phone anymore) that way you can get the address for their main headquarters. If they call again, after you asked them not too, you may file claims for such actona, just keep a record of all contacts!
Sorry I have written soo much, just trying to help anyone out, maybe me typing all this can help anyone, even if it is just 1 person...
They have called me, I had told them they had the wrong number, I looked up the number up on the internet and luckily found out that it was indeed a scam. This way that when they call again, I can figure out where they are located, find out more info and report them to a higher authority so good people that may not be able to look into the offers, or have the internet, will not fall victim to this awful harrassment telemarketing phone scam.
**Also, since I know it is a scam, and have been gathering more info on them (Im in law for a living in case you are wondering), I decided to ring them back - I constantly got the busy signal...but tonight a woman answered and she didnt say hello, she sai "MOUNT AIRY COMMUNICATIONS, DID YOU RECEIVE A PHONE CALL" and I hung up...IRONIC, b/c when they tried to pretend to know my name and who I was, they said they were calling on bhalf of a Publishing Company, not a Communications company...
BEWARE good people, do not be taken advantage of, do something about them and report it. Write down the number, the name they give you, tell them they have reached the wrong number but ask them what company they are calling from and their name, maybe if you can even ask where their headquarters is too, ya never know what they are willing to say (or make up).
ALWAYS KEEP A RECORD OF CORRESPONDANCE, and then report all that you can, even if just on a website like this, it will help rid of these pitiful relentless companies such as this one and help others avoid such problems.
I am letting everyone know that i received calls just today from the same number claiming that i won $500 Worth of Gift Certificates which i can claim on-line and also offered me with free magazines. After the initial call, they called back again asking for the Expiry Date of my CREDIT Card number which of course i didn't give...WHy would I? If indeed i won, all they have to do is mail the said certificate afterall, they know my address and even my full name. Isn't it scary how people these days can trace your whereabouts and call you? Guys, Be Careful with this number...
Your right its not illegal to do what your doing its just wrong.. You people get a phone number and call and call at all hours of the day then when those Unfortunat ones answer you you sell them some big SCAM and use terms like YOU WIN , PUBLISHERS, SWEEPSTAKES and MAGAZINE SUBSCRIPTIONS trust me your not Ed McMan because my prize money never came nor did I even get the phone call from your so called prize department and when that didn’t happen I got smart closed my bank account and filed a complaint with several departments. Put it this way you can take your magazines and your fraudulent prize and stick them where the sun don’t shine. I run my own company and when someone googles my phone number it brings up my company profile not a bunch of pissed off people blogging that my company is a scam… What your doing may be legal but its not right and people that do what you do for a living have just as many morals as any other criminal or crack [***] has in this world. Your parents must be proud.
They called said I would recieve a $500 gift card as well, with purchasing of magizines for 60 months at like 50 bucks a month. They would not tell me how they got myinfor except that one my my creditors or banks suggest me to recieve the gift. They asked for my age and not my b-day. Tries transferring me, but told me the line was busy and another person would call to verify. This number was the verifing people, who only wanted my credit info. I tried to call back the 8906 or whatever enumber and te guy said tat they cannot do anyhting. I called back the 9664 number and its always busy. I fell for it like an idiot, but I called my bank immediately and reported it. The transaction of theirs is in pending, but once it is out of pending the bank said rthey will refund it, and change my credit card number for me. If you fell for it like me..lol. then i suggest you do the same.
I have researched your compandy. The only thing i have found are complaint boards and maybe a fake web page made by your " company" the reason you are able to stay opened is ecause you are taking hundreds of dollars from peopel's accounts with out permission. It's only a select few people that actually make the harrassing phone cals o it's safe to assume you do not have many employees. Then you try to black mail people by saying you have a recording of them agreeing to a " contract". Incase you did not know a verbal contract is not binding in most states.
