ANYONE, ANY CALLER OR COMPANY, THAT CALLS YOU AND WHEN YOU PICK UP AND YOU SAY HELLO SAYS YOUR NAME (and you dont know the number) IS A SCAM!!!
ANYONE, ANY CALLER, OR COMPANY THAT ASKS ANY INFORMATION SUCH AS BANK ACCT, SOCIAL SEC. OR ASK TO VERIFY YOUR ADDRESS AND YOU DID NOT CONTACT THEM FIRST, IS A SCAM (not saying that all companies are, but usually soliciting phone calls where they say your name, make you an offer, when you say no, they reduce the offer, are just not legite) Tell them, if they would like that information, you woould like them to send something to you first, perhaps via e-mail or mail, (tell them not to contact you by phone anymore) that way you can get the address for their main headquarters. If they call again, after you asked them not too, you may file claims for such actona, just keep a record of all contacts!
Sorry I have written soo much, just trying to help anyone out, maybe me typing all this can help anyone, even if it is just 1 person...
They have called me, I had told them they had the wrong number, I looked up the number up on the internet and luckily found out that it was indeed a scam. This way that when they call again, I can figure out where they are located, find out more info and report them to a higher authority so good people that may not be able to look into the offers, or have the internet, will not fall victim to this awful harrassment telemarketing phone scam.
**Also, since I know it is a scam, and have been gathering more info on them (Im in law for a living in case you are wondering), I decided to ring them back - I constantly got the busy signal...but tonight a woman answered and she didnt say hello, she sai "MOUNT AIRY COMMUNICATIONS, DID YOU RECEIVE A PHONE CALL" and I hung up...IRONIC, b/c when they tried to pretend to know my name and who I was, they said they were calling on bhalf of a Publishing Company, not a Communications company...
BEWARE good people, do not be taken advantage of, do something about them and report it. Write down the number, the name they give you, tell them they have reached the wrong number but ask them what company they are calling from and their name, maybe if you can even ask where their headquarters is too, ya never know what they are willing to say (or make up).
ALWAYS KEEP A RECORD OF CORRESPONDANCE, and then report all that you can, even if just on a website like this, it will help rid of these pitiful relentless companies such as this one and help others avoid such problems.
They tried to mess with the wrong people this time! When my husband and I told them who we were they about wet themselves....
I was offered a $1000 shopping spree online if I ordered 3 magazines a week for 60 months. I called back and asked for the 'agent' who called me just two minutes prior - and she was suddenly gone. I had a new 'agent' talk with me who then proceeded to transfer my call to a manager. I checked the BBB and they had a "F" rating. Also, their website was "under construction". I asked who gave them my information and they said that either Visa or Master-card did. I asked if I could have a contract to to have my lawyer review they said that they don't mail things out since that would raise costs to them.
When I asked for any type of document to be reviewed by my lawyer and they refused. I knew 100% that this was a SCAM!
i fell for this scam and of course i feel sooo stupid. i had to change my account number. i called this company back and asked for a cancellation number they said you can't cancel your order. how cant you cancel it? and she told me that i will have bad credit if i dont pay the money. what do i do?
Jes if you didn't give them your social they cant do anything to your credit. Just cancel your card avoid their calls and you wont have ANYTHING to worry about.
